Sony PS3 Slim

The Sony PS3 Slim supports playback of MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4/h.264 video files from USB or disc-based media, as well as JPEG image viewing (the slideshow functionality is quite impressive). Like the Xbox 360, the PS3 can act as a digital media hub, with the ability to stream content from any DLNA-compatible network device, including PCs and network attached hard drives. There is also a built-in Web browser (optional Bluetooth keyboards are available), an Ethernet jack, an HDMI output (no cable included), an optical digital audio output (SPDIF), and the proprietary PlayStation AV output for analog audio and video. A composite AV cable ships with the unit, and because it uses the same connector as the PlayStation 2, that system’s S-Video and component cables should work with it. In order to get HD video, a component or HDMI connector is required. The Slim is 33 percent smaller and 36 percent lighter than its predecessors, and it is significantly more compact with a “textured,” or matte finish. The front of the unit features the opening of the slot-loading disc player, touch-sensitive power on/off and ejects buttons. The PS3 Slim is powered by a 45nm version of the Cell processor, which runs at the same speed as the 60nm processor in the previous PS3, and power consumption for the Slim has been cut from 280 watts to 250 watts. The hard drive on the unit can also be upgraded/replaced without voiding the warranty.

The Sony PS3 Slim measures 11.4 in x 11.4 in x 2.6 in and weighs 7.1 lbs. It comes in charcoal black color. The unit supports BD-ROM, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM medias.

Processor and memory
The Sony PS3 Slim utilizes the Cell Broadband Engine processor and has up to 256 MB RAM Installed (XDRAM). The unit also supports a 120 GB hard disk drive storage media.

Video
Video Output is supported by NVIDIA RSX and there is up to 256 MB of integrated video memory installed that provides up to a resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Communications
The PS3 Slim also features Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11 connectivity

It has an external game pad and wireless input device. The PS3 Slim supports the following connectors: 2 x USB ( 4 pin USB Type A ) , 1 x Ethernet ( RJ-45 ) , 1 x HDMI output ( 19 pin HDMI Type A ) , 1 x PlayStation 3 AV output , 1 x SPDIF output ( TOSLINK )

It comes with an A/V cable and USB cable. The device sports an internal power device supply and has a power consumption of 250 Watt during operation.
