Canon recently confirmed the availability of an update for the EOS 5D Mark II dSLR. Actually, talk about this update was making the rounds six months ago. We don’t know exactly when it will be available but according to Canon it should be sometime this month. The 2.0.3 firmware update will fix and enhance the video capture controls and features of the camera. What this will do is it will change or rather fix the main frame rate to capture 30 frames per second. For film recording the update will change it to 24 frames per second while 25 frames per second for PAL.
With this update, semimanual exposure modes will be accessible in the movie mode. Meanwhile, the audio sampling rate will be increased to 48kHz from 44.1kHz and adjusting levels will be made possible on the LCD. These are certainly important update features for the camera. Rumor has it that the update will be on March 16 but Canon themselves haven’t said anything yet.
