Samsung created a whole bunch of fuss at January’s consumer electronics extravaganza with its prototype laptop that displayed images on a see-through/invisible screen. AMOLED which is an active-matrix organic light-emitting diode is being implemented by the Korean brand in their devices. After the laptop, comes the portable audio/video player that incorporates the AMOLED technology. Meanwhile, Sony too has incorporated this technology in its coming releases and those include an 11-inch desktop TV and Walkman X series. Mobile phones too will sport this technology as mobile makes see the AMOLED as a great way to save battery on the phone. While the AMOLED is interesting and a step upwards in technology, we can’t seem to be perturbed that it might cause us malaise as it won’t be that peaceful and private when watching something on an AMOLED screen. Samsung begs to differ, “We have a lab in Korea that is currently working on developing a laptop with partially-transparent screen,” Reid Sullivan of Samsung Electronics America told PlusPlastic. “Soon, I imagine that all Samsung’s audiovisual products will feature this technology. We want to be the first in this market.”
